Smash burger tacos combine two favorite comfort foods in one crispy, flavorful meal. Thinly pressed ground beef cooks directly onto a tortilla, creating a caramelized surface while the tortilla becomes golden and slightly crunchy. Melted cheese, pickles, shredded lettuce, and a creamy burger sauce complete this fun recipe. These tacos are perfect for casual dinners, game nights, or sharing with friends.
Ingredients
- 300 g ground beef
- 4 small flour tortillas
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 8 pickle slices
- ½ small red onion, finely sliced
For the burger sauce:
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp pickle juice
Instructions
- Mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle juice in a small bowl. Refrigerate while preparing the tacos.
- Divide the ground beef into four portions. Spread each portion thinly over one side of a tortilla, pressing the meat evenly toward the edges.
- Season the beef with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place each tortilla meat-side down and press firmly with a spatula.
- Cook for approximately 3–4 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Flip the tortilla, add a slice of cheddar, and cook until the cheese melts and the tortilla turns golden.
- Top with lettuce, pickles, red onion, and burger sauce.
- Fold slightly and serve immediately while the tortillas are crisp and the cheese is warm.
Serving tip: Add jalapeños for extra heat or serve with oven-baked potato wedges. Cook the ground beef to a safe internal temperature of 71°C.
