Serves: 4 tacos

Smash burger tacos combine two favorite comfort foods in one crispy, flavorful meal. Thinly pressed ground beef cooks directly onto a tortilla, creating a caramelized surface while the tortilla becomes golden and slightly crunchy. Melted cheese, pickles, shredded lettuce, and a creamy burger sauce complete this fun recipe. These tacos are perfect for casual dinners, game nights, or sharing with friends.

Ingredients

  • 300 g ground beef
  • 4 small flour tortillas
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 8 pickle slices
  • ½ small red onion, finely sliced

For the burger sauce:

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp pickle juice

Instructions

  1. Mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle juice in a small bowl. Refrigerate while preparing the tacos.
  2. Divide the ground beef into four portions. Spread each portion thinly over one side of a tortilla, pressing the meat evenly toward the edges.
  3. Season the beef with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place each tortilla meat-side down and press firmly with a spatula.
  5. Cook for approximately 3–4 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Flip the tortilla, add a slice of cheddar, and cook until the cheese melts and the tortilla turns golden.
  6. Top with lettuce, pickles, red onion, and burger sauce.
  7. Fold slightly and serve immediately while the tortillas are crisp and the cheese is warm.

Serving tip: Add jalapeños for extra heat or serve with oven-baked potato wedges. Cook the ground beef to a safe internal temperature of 71°C.
