Caprese Skewers Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Balsamic glaze or reduction
  • Extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • Salt and pepper (optional)
  • Skewers (toothpicks, bamboo skewers, or cocktail picks)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the ingredients:
    • Wash and dry the cherry tomatoes.
    • Drain the mozzarella balls if they’re packed in water.
    • Wash and dry the basil leaves.
  2. Assemble the skewers:
    • Take a skewer and thread one cherry tomato onto it.
    • Next, add a fresh basil leaf. You can fold the basil leaf in half if it’s large.
    • Follow with a mozzarella ball.
    • Repeat the layers if your skewer is long enough or simply end with another cherry tomato if you prefer.
  3. Arrange and season:
    • Arrange the assembled skewers on a serving platter.
    • Drizzle with balsamic glaze or reduction. If desired, you can also lightly drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
