Fudgy Brownies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1 cup chocolate chips or chunks, nuts, or other mix-ins

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate:
    • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and chopped chocolate over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined and smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients:
    • Pour the slightly cooled chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture, whisking constantly until fully combined.
  5. Add the dry ingredients:
    • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
    • If using chocolate chips, nuts, or other mix-ins, gently fold them into the batter.
  6. Bake the brownies:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter.
  7. Cool and serve:
    • Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cool, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan and onto a cutting board.
    • Cut into squares and serve.
