Buffalo cauliflower bites are a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional buffalo wings. Here’s a simple recipe to make them:
Ingredients
- 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or a gluten-free alternative)
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buffalo sauce
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (optional for a richer flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Prepare Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, water, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
- Coat Cauliflower: Add the cauliflower florets to the batter, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off before placing the florets on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake: Arrange the coated cauliflower florets in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cauliflower is crispy and golden brown, flipping halfway through.
- Prepare Buffalo Sauce: While the cauliflower is baking, mix the buffalo sauce and melted butter (if using) in a large bowl.
- Coat with Sauce: Once the cauliflower is done baking, remove it from the oven and add the florets to the bowl with the buffalo sauce. Toss gently to coat each piece evenly.
- Bake Again: Return the coated cauliflower to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the bites are crispy.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ranch or blue cheese dressing, and enjoy!
Tips
- Air Fryer: For an even crispier texture, you can cook the cauliflower bites in an air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Spiciness: Adjust the spiciness by choosing a milder or hotter buffalo sauce according to your preference.
- Gluten-Free: Use a gluten-free flour blend to make this recipe gluten-free.
These buffalo cauliflower bites are perfect as an appetizer, snack, or even a main dish when paired with a salad or other side dishes. Enjoy!
